Kevin recently blogged about the “slutwear” look coming to an end. Here's an even more ominous prediction:
The reign of the thong is over. Or so says a recent New York Times article. A Denver Post columnist chimed in with a similar view -- the over-exposed thong is passé. At NYC Fashion Week, designers and fashion writers declared "slutwear" done as fashionistas called for more modesty.
Going undercover to track the trend, we found that searches on "thong" are down 13% over the last 30 days, further supporting the NYT thesis that the stringy undergarment may have run out of steam. But most thong searches aren't from women looking to purchase them -- 83% actually come from guys. Sad to some. Predictable to others
Slutwear may be out, but I doubt thongs are going to go away anytime soon, especially with celebrity endorsements like that one, even if it was unintentional.
