Elliot Spitzer Not Going To Jail

He commited crimes, but since Elliot Spitzer happened to be the governor, he gets off the hook. The US attorney in Manhattan had this to say:

In light of the policy of the Department of Justice with respect to prostitution offenses and the longstanding practice of this Office, as well as Mr. SPITZER’s acceptance of responsibility for his conduct, we have concluded that the public interest would not be further advanced by filing criminal charges in this matter.

You know if it were me, I doubt accepting responsibility for my conduct would keep me out of jail.

Post-Racial? Hardly

It’s only been two days since the election and things are already getting ugly. Michelle Malkin has a post up detailing the "My President Is Black" phenomenon. Also links to stories like this one:

My senior at an upscale Cobb County Georgia (Newt’s old district) high school came home today in tears. Every black student at this school, where race isn’t usually an indicator of whether or not the teens are friends…they all get along and are for the most part, almost all college bound… was wearing their Obama t-shirts today. Many of them said, “My president is BLACK.” Many had Obama’s head printed on cardboard and waved them through the halls taunting the white kids with, “McCain sucks” and “F– McCain.”

This is what we have to look forward to for the next four years? That’s not the change Obama promised.

Stocks Tank After Obama Election

Down almost 500 points. The market can see the coming thugocracy and it doesn’t seem to care for it.

UPDATE: Turns out that’s the largest drop after an election in history.

UPDATE II: Dow continues to slide, down another 360 or so with two hours to go. Why is this happening? There are a few reasons.

1. Obama has promised to raise the capital gains tax.
2. Obama has promised to raise the top marginal tax rates.
3. Obama has promised to bankrupt the coal industry.
4. Democrats are talking about ending tax breaks for retirement plans. This means no more 401k accounts.

In order to avoid the higher capital gains taxes, everyone is selling off their positions in order to pay lower taxes now. I’ve already dumped all mine.

Most people would have the sense to see that if a recession is looming on the horizon, raising taxes is not the way to fix things. Yes, Obama promised to lower income taxes for 95% of Americans. But when nearly 40% already pay no income taxes, I find his promise somewhat suspect.

Holy Jurassic Park

Michael Crichton is dead. I will sorely miss him, he was a great author.

What Is Scott Adams Saying Exactly?

I know cartoon strips are written at least a few weeks in advance, but this is too much of a coincidence.

Dilbert

Freudian Slip?

"Barack Obama will assume office with vastly more influence in the nation’s capital than most of his recent predecessors have wielded."

Mourning In America

Well, things didn’t go my way. Obviously. But I’ll have plenty of blog fodder over the next four years, that’s for sure.

At least there were several local issues that went my way. English is now the official language in my state! And Proposition 8 passed in California, so no more gay marriage there.

It took four years of Carter to get Reagan and two years of Clinton to get control of the House and Senate. Things aren’t as bad as they seem. I just hope 0bama doesn’t screw things up as bad as Jimmy Carter did.

Moran Lays Out Obama’s Beliefs For Him

The money quote: "we have been guided by a Republican administration who believes in the simplistic notion that people who have wealth are entitled to keep it."

If Obama wins and gets his way, this is what America has to look forward to.

This should scare the pants off you.

Republican Observers Access Denied In New Hampshire

Lawsuit filed.

The New Hampshire Republican State Committee is filing a lawsuit against the New Hampshire Secretary of State, William Gardner, claiming that Republican election officials are purposefuly [sic] being kept away from new registration tables. Both Republicans and Democrats appoint election officials to ensure that neither party tries to tamper with votes or registration.

“The problem is that our observers in the polling places have been denied reasonable access to the same-day registration tables,” said GOP attorney James Merrill told the Union Leader moments ago.

What is it that they don’t want the Republicans to see? If this were an isolated incident, that would be one thing. But when it’s systemic

Vote As Often As You Want

As long as it’s for Obama…
