A friend, who happens to be blogless, sent me this and asked me if I’d post it for him:
So I am on my way to work and traffic is slowed up cause this lady has hit a deer. Now as I pass I see the deer isn’t dead (well actually it is, it just hasn’t figured it out yet) and it is just lying there in the street with it’s entrails out and clearly suffering. Now I am carrying my .45 and could easily pull over and end this and put the poor animal out of his misery.
But then it hits me, if I walk up and pull out my .45 in the middle of a crowded street I am opening myself up to many “bad” things. I mean, given the liberal nature of this town, I can just see some mom with her 5 year old in the minivan watching me blow away bambi and presto I am being summoned to civil court for mental anguish. Or worse yet, the shot goes through the poor animal and ricochets through some window of an office and zings by some cubicle and now it’s criminal court for attempted manslaughter.
So what do I do, I just keep on drivin’ just like the rest of the heard and do nothing. So now it’s buggin’ me that I had the power to do something good that clearly needed to be done to spare this poor animal but I did not, could not, because this country has become so politically correct, paranoid, and so afraid to do anything that we are literally forced to do nothing. And that sadly reminds me of the quote from Edmund Burke: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”.
I am just starting to wonder if it’s not too late to undue what we have done………

Given the fact that you are in Travis County, you probably made the right choice, you would definitely have ended up spending thousands of dollars on a lawyer to defend yourself from the myriad charges they would likely have thrown at you.
It is the home of Ronnie Earle, after all.
Not if I’m on the jury. It’s noble intent and that counts in some places. Just not where the libs hang out.
