I’ve seen the video, and I’m in agreement with Oliver North. If he’s done something wrong, he’ll be brought to justice. We should never allow what seems to have happened occur in our military.
That being said, I wasn’t there, so I don’t know the full story, only about ten seconds of it. I do know that some of the terrorists we’re fighting have been pretending to be dead, and when US forces approach them, they either begin shooting, or unleash some sort of explosive, blowing themselves and our guys up. So I can understand where the Marine is coming from.
But it also turns out that the cameraman who shot the footage is also an anti-war activist. His name is Kevin Sites, and he has photos posted on some anti-war websites. Which has some people quite angry. That’s puzzling. Someone working for the MSM has an anti-war agenda? Say it isn’t so!
Sites also has a blog of his own, which has some nice photos of the action in Iraq.
While I don’t agree with Sites’ political leanings, it seems to me that people are getting overly excited about the video he shot. That’s what he’s paid to do, and like I said, if what seems to be happening on that tape actually is, it needs to be stopped.
However, I don’t think we need thirty-plus days of front-page coverage in the NY Times, as with the Abu Grahib incident. So please spare us that headache, OK guys?
