How’s About A Little Wager?

It seems obvious at this point that even if Bush wins forty-eight states, Kerry will contest at least ten to fifteen of them. So, in light of the last election, anyone want to offer up a date when we’ll actually have settled who’s going to be the next President? ‘Cause it sure ain’t gonna be November 2nd…

UPDATE: Forgot to offer my guess. I’m taking December 15th.

  • Hell, I’d take you up on your wager but I’m not altogether certain that everyone’s in agreement that we ettled who was supposed to be the President in the 2000 election. I *still* hear people claiming that Bush "stole" the election and that he’s President-Select and not President-Elect.

Anyhow, I’m guessing that it’ll be later than December 15th. I’ll say December 30, 2004. What are we wagering anyhoe? A bottle of something, I’d suggest… Loser pays at the next blogfest or else has to mail it.

BTW – Nice to meet you in Helen. Hope you made it back to TX okay.

  • "ettled" is supposed to be "settled" and "anyhoe" is supposed to be "anyhow".

    Long day at work. <sigh!>

  • I’m betting quick and ugly, so I’ll go before the 15th. (Do I have to be more specific?)

  • Yeah pick a specific date, that will make it easier.

I made it back OK, although that last hotel gave me the creeps.

I was just thinking we’d wager for braggin’ rights, but loser buys a bottle could work. Any other thoughts?

  • November 25

Now…what do I get if I get it right?

Moreover, what do I give up if I get it wrong?

  • A wager from flynny! If I’m you, mon, I’m asking for strip poker.

I figure the law suits will take us into January. Or until W tells the National Guard to shoot on site. Any state with a 3% or less margin will be a bloodzone.

  • I’ll take New Year’s Day. Is this one of these "comes closest without going over" things, like The Price Is Right?

  • I don’t think going over should matter. Closest wins.
