Ever hear the phrase, “talking out of your ass”? What if someone really did?

There’s a story in the NY Times detailing what happened on Flight 93, the one that ended up in a field in Pennsylvania. Here’s an excerpt:
Unlike the three other hijackings, Flight 93 continued transmitting over the radio during the struggle in the cockpit. The captain or first officer declared “Mayday,” and 35 seconds later, one of them shouted, “Hey, get out of here get out of here get out of here.” Later, passengers reported seeing two bodies outside the cockpit, injured or dead, probably the pilots.

I keep reading all these Bergler articles that mention “a violation of Archive rules” in relation to Mr. Berglar removing documents from the National Archives. While that is technically true, the documents he was removing have a higher classification than our nuclear secrets. So let’s tell it like it is for a change. Instead of using the phrase “a violation of Archive rules”, how about some honesty and just calling it a “felony”.
The Sept. 11 commission’s final report concludes the hijackers exploited “deep institutional failings within our government” over a long period but does not blame President Bush or former President Clinton for the mistakes, according to administration officials familiar with the findings.
I find this sentence most compelling: “In particular, the official said, the commission found the FBI was not set up to collect intelligence domestically, in part because of civil liberties concerns.” So political correctness did us in. I would like to be the first to thank the ACLU for the bang-up job they’ve been doing.

From CNSNews comes this story about how the ABA, fully knowing that the Republicans are going to jump at the chance to portray Edwards as the former trial lawyer that he is, is attempting to “preempt such political rhetoric.“
The President of the ABA says he wants the parties to “focus on the major issues before the electorate instead of resorting to name-calling and scapegoating directed toward America’s lawyers and judges. If not, we’ll sue your ass.” Ok, I made that last sentence up.
Now if I were, say Michael Moore, I would be jumping up and down and screaming that the ABA is trying to censor the Republicans. Ok, maybe I would if they were trying to get Democrats to pipe down about some issue. Everyone knows that the vast majority of trial lawyers support Democrats, and that Republicans vilify them at every possible turn. Maybe instead of trying to get Republicans to stop “scapegoating” trial lawyers, they could try a different approach. Like not suing McDonald’s when a customer spills hot coffee on themselves, or trying to sue McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s for making people fat.
Until we can get some tort reform in this country, or the ABA can somehow start policing their own, people will always find frivolous lawsuits such as those a reason to not like trial lawyers. And if you really want to get an earful, ask doctors what they think of trial lawyers. Some doctors are paying upwards of $100,000 per year for malpractice lawsuits. And many who can’t afford that are having to find another career to pursue.
And judges? Does the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ring any bells? How about this guy?
Bottom line, if you want to change the trial lawyer “stereotype”, you’ve got to stop doing things that perpetuate it.
UPDATE: I forgot to mention MoveOn.Org suing Fox News for their use of the phrase “fair and balanced.” There’s a suit with merit. Neal Boortz has a standing challenge for anyone to show him any story Fox News has done with a conservative slant. It’s been six months so far, and no one has been able to come up with one yet.
So most people are aware by now that Coke has a new product out called C2, which is the “low-carb” version of Coca-Cola Classic. However, the company is doing something rather underhanded to promote it. Where I work there is a Coke machine. There are two buttons for Diet Coke (I’m guessing it’s a popular choice). What they have done is filled up the Diet Coke slots alternating between actual Diet Coke and C2, which has quite a few people upset.
Personally, I think this is a really bad business practice, and may even fall under false advertising, since it could only have been done deliberately. I understand Coke’s desire to get their product into consumers’ hands, but this just isn’t the way to do it.
So Drudge has a photo up of Jenna Bush sticking her tongue out at the press on his main page right now. Granted, that’s rather childish, but a headline that says “Jenna Tongues Press” isn’t much better.

Carmen Electra has had regrets about getting a boob job: “I do regret it sometimes. I had nice boobs before – they were small but nice.”
The dark-haired beauty admitted she’s considered having her boobs reduced but is worried about the impact it could have on her career.
Electra added: “Of course I could have them reduced. But then where would I be?”
Hey, don’t take my word for it…

Secretary of Defense Cohen, President Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Albright, National Security Adviser Sandy Berger, holding room of the Ronald Reagan Building, April 25, 1999
“We were all making comments we shouldn’t have about how the meeting was getting very boring. So finally we decided we had to make like the monkey. Cohen started this ‘hear no evil,’ and then I was next so I spoke no evil, then Madeleine saw no evil, so Sandy Berger said, ‘I’m evil.’” – Bill Clinton
And as Frank points out, his real name is Samuel Berger, so I guess he couldn’t go by Sam, or he would be “Sam Berger“, hehe.

UPDATE: I’m not saying he stole my idea, but Drudge has this exact photo at the top of his page right now.
Now Michael Moore has jumped into the fray, which is odd, becuase he usually blocks out the light avoids the limelight and keeps to himself. Anyway, in regards to Linda Ronstadt’s ejection from the Aladdin, here’s an excerpt from an AFP story:
“What country do you live in?,” Moore asked in the letter [on his website]. “Last time I checked, Las Vegas is still in the United States. And in the United States, we have something called ‘The First Amendment’” which guarantees the right to free speech.
Once again, we have another elite liberal thinking their right of free speech trumps everyone else’s. She spoke what she wanted to, and the government didn’t arrest her, so her rights are in tact. Again, the hotel’s position: “A statement from the casino in the desert gambling hub said Ronstadt was booted out because she had been engaged to entertain the audience, not to express her political views.”
A hotel offical added, “This angered our guests who spilled their drinks and demanded their money back.” Well, there you go. You cost the casino money, they have every right to fire you, case closed.
