Brains And Beauty

Supermodel Rachel Hunter has expressed her political views as referenced in this story. She states, “Clinton had a lot of tea parties with celebrities, but [right after] his term, somebody flew two planes into the Twin Towers. What do you want – somebody who keeps your children safe or somebody who throws nice tea parties?”

Good for her, I love it when famous people turn out to be Republican. What I don’t get is the opening paragraph of the story: “Aging rocker Rod Stewart’s ex-wife, Rachel Hunter, has controversially slammed former President Bill Clinton and praised President George W. Bush.” Why is that when someone comes out in support of Bush, it’s “controversial?” I’ll bet that if she had said that George Bush was an idiot and she wished that Clinton was still in office, that would be just fine. Of course that would sum up the opinion of the vast (left-wing conspiracy?) majority of journalists out there. If your opinion is consistent with theirs, then you’re perfectly welcome to say whatever you want, since they all know more than the rest of us do, anyway.

Could there be left-wing bias in the media? No, impossible, I must be just reading too deep into the story.

What Is Wrong With Wolf Blitzer?

Yesterday on CNN, during coverage of the very long lines of people, Wolf Blitzer asked the report on site, “Can you tell, Thelma, and clearly this is unscientific, but, if the crowds really look like America? Are they ethnically diverse, African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, or is it largely white?”

I guess I just really don’t understand liberals. Even in such a somber time as during coverage of the death of arguably one of the greatest presidents this nation has ever had, he tries to play the race card. Hey Wolf, perhaps you recall the 1984 presidential election where Reagan took every state but Minnesota, which was Mondale’s home state. First, that means that people everywhere, black, white, male, female, Republican or Democrat, voted for him. He crossed all lines, people believed in his message and loved him for believing in this great nation. Second, that makes Mondale the biggest loser ever (if you take into account he later lost a bid for senator in Minnesota, I think that makes him the only person to ever lose in all 50 states).

I guess I can understand somewhat. These socialists, er, liberals (wait, what’s the difference these days?), are having to go through a whole week of hearing good things spoken about someone they absolutely hated, Ronald Reagan. I guess that’s making them loopier than they normally would be.

The Truth About Reaganomics

We all know that liberals fear facts, so why not take a few minutes and read this paper authored by the Cato Institute that tells the true story of how well Reaganomics actually worked.

Bush Campaign Site

The official George W. Bush campaign site has been modified as a tribute to Ronald Reagan. Good for you, George.

There Was A War?

I saw a link to this story on Wizbang. Can you believe this?

“Tiffany Charles got a B in history last year at her Montgomery County high school, but she is not sure what year World War II ended. She cannot name a single general or battle, or the man who was president during the most dramatic hours of the 20th century.“

“Among 76 teenagers interviewed near their high schools this week in Maryland, Virginia and the District, recognition of the internment camps, a standard part of every area history curriculum, was high — two-thirds gave the right answer when asked what happened to Japanese Americans during the war. But only one-third could name even one World War II general, and about half could name a World War II battle.”

So Japanese people were interred, we had Rosie the Riveter, and there was some “war thing” happening in the Pacific and throughout Europe. That is just disgusting.

God Bless Our Troops

I didn’t do any posting this weekend, because I was glued to my TV for the majority of it. I watched Fox News most of the day on Saturday and their pieces on Ronald Reagan. Sunday, I was bouncing between Fox News and the History Channel watching shows about D-Day.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to offer my most heartfelt thanks to all current and former members of our military. I can’t express enough my gratitude for your service. Many people only think about such things on days like D-Day, Memorial Day, and other such official holidays. That is not the case for me. Whenever I see someone in a military uniform, I always go out of my way to let them know how much I appreciate their service. Without them, I wouldn’t have the freedom to sit here and type this.

And when you see someone protesting our military, just smile and know in your heart that without you, they wouldn’t have the freedom to do it. Left-wing protesters didn’t land at Normandy, our troops did. Protesters have never brought one ounce of liberty to our nation, it was our militrary that did.

God bless America, and God bless our troops.

The Bombing Will Begin In Five Minutes

So, as everyone knows by know, Ronald Reagan passed away on Saturday. I had seen some stories on the Internet in the very early morning indicating that he wasn’t doing well, and the stories turned out to be accurate. What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this great American? Probably not much. I was 10 years old when he took office, and he was probably the biggest reason I became interested in politics. I can remember being able to name everyone in his cabinet, even at that young age.

I can remember many of his speeches, and his addresses from the Oval Office. I loved those. I remember his optimism, and America being a shining city on the hill. The 1980′s were a great time in American history, and I attribute that to President Reagan. He made everyone believe in America again, and told us that our best days were not behind us, but ahead of us, and that made America love him. His message is still preached today by talk radio hosts such as Rush Limbaugh, who probably wouldn’t be who he is today without Reagan, either. Reagan made conservatism popular, and slid the political “center” quite a bit to the right. These days, being considered a liberal has the same connotation that being a conservative did before Reagan came along.

Optimism is something that liberals, to this day, still just don’t understand, and it’s why conservative talk radio is so popular, and liberal talk radio is always doomed to fail. Who wants to sit and listen to someone for three hours talk about how horrible our nation is, and that we should be ashamed of ourselves for being the most prosperous nation in the world? I certainly don’t. And neither do the majority of Americans.

Ronnie, thanks for all that you did for this country, and for the world.

One For The Gipper

I’m reading that Ronnie is not doing well. My hopes and prayers go out to him and his family. God Bless You, Ronald Reagan, and thank you for all you have done for this country.
